This is my submission for Pwnisher's art challenge called Chasm's Call. When looking at the template scene I immediately thought of the Fissure in Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree, and since there's a new game in the works that is bringing in some old character I thought I'd try recreating one of the most iconic looking Dark Souls bosses, Gravelord Nito.
It was a lot of fun putting this together, Nito, the big ball of skeletons all clumped together was created using dynamic actors in tyFlow, cloth effects were all simulated in 3ds max and imported in to Unreal while all the volumetric fire and smoke effects were made using Unreal's Niagara system. Texture maps were made in Substance designer and the everything assembled and rendered out of Unreal with Davinci Resolve used to edit and color grade.
